Kulning (dependiendo de qué regiones, también recibe el nombre de kauning, kaukning, kulokker) era un tipo de canto usado tradicionalmente por las mujeres del Norte para llamar al ganado que estaba pastando en las montañas. El timbre tan agudo, similar a una soprano, permitiría que fuese escuchado a grandes distancias.
